Confirmation of the Dates of the Period for the Exercise of Public Rights

Under the Accounts and Audit (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 to
give local authorities more flexibility the requirement for the public
inspection period for the 2019/20 accounts to include the first ten working
days of July has been removed.  Instead local authorities must commence the
public inspection period on or before the first working day of September
Markfield Parish Council confirms that the dates set for the period for the
exercise of public rights are as follows:
Commencing on     22 July 2020
And ending on        2 September 2020
The publication date for final, audited accounts has also been moved from 30
September to 30 November 2020.

Any persons interested may inspect and make copies of the Annual Return and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts etc. relating to them. For the year ended 31 March 2020 these documents will be available during the period specified on reasonable notice on application to the Locum Administrator. To comply with Covid-19 Secure guidance the reasonable notice period must allow for a 72 hour periods following the records being set out by the Locum Administrator and inspections.

Local Government electors and their representatives have rights to:

question the auditor about the accounting records.

object to the accounts or any item in them. Written notice of an objection must be given to the external auditor and a copy sent to the Authority (Markfield Parish Council). Objections must concern a matter of which the external auditor could make a public interest report or apply for a declaration that an item of account is unlawful.
